All currencies will be stablecoins by 2030: Tether co-founder

Reeve Collins, co-founder of Tether, predicts that by 2030, all forms of currency, including fiat like dollars and euros, will be represented as stablecoins on the blockchain. In an interview at Token2049 in Singapore, Collins asserted that stablecoins will become the primary method of transferring money due to their advantages over traditional finance. He noted that the recent positive shift in the U.S. government's stance toward the crypto sector has encouraged traditional finance firms to explore stablecoins more readily. Collins emphasized the potential of tokenized assets to dramatically increase utility and returns compared to non-tokenized assets and suggested that the distinction between centralized and decentralized finance will blur as various applications merge traditional and decentralized investment models. However, he acknowledged the security risks associated with blockchain technology, including vulnerabilities in bridges, smart contracts, and wallets, while expressing optimism about improving security measures in the space.
