Ark Invest's Cathie Wood Slashes Bitcoin Price Target Over Growing Stablecoin Mania
Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest, has revised her bullish Bitcoin price forecast from $1.5 million to $1.2 million by 2030. This change is attributed to the rapid growth of stablecoin adoption, which is increasingly being used for payments rather than Bitcoin. Wood noted that while Bitcoin still holds potential as an asset akin to digital gold, stablecoins are rapidly filling the role that Bitcoin was expected to fulfill in emerging markets. Stablecoins have gained traction among tech-savvy users and businesses, supported by top banks and major corporations looking to leverage blockchain for payments. The recent developments indicate a shift in how digital currencies are perceived in the payment landscape, reflecting their utility and integration into mainstream finance. Additionally, Galaxy Digital has also cut its Bitcoin price target for the end of 2025 from $185,000 to $120,000 following the recent market fluctuations. Bitcoin is now considered to be in a 'maturity era,' characterized by institutional interest and lower volatility. Yet, hardcore Bitcoin supporters maintain that the cryptocurrency will ultimately serve as a medium for exchange.
