Bitcoin (BTC) Adoption News: Emory University Adds to Holdings
Emory University has significantly increased its investment in Bitcoin by more than doubling its holdings in the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust, which is now over 1 million shares worth approximately $52 million. This marks a notable shift in the university's approach toward cryptocurrency, especially as they previously held just under 500,000 shares by the end of the second quarter of 2025. Emory's endowment managers also established a new position in BlackRock's iShares Gold Trust, reflecting a broader interest in hard assets. Their continuing stake in Bitcoin demonstrates growing institutional comfort with the asset, particularly through regulated ETFs. Additionally, Emory University modestly increased its investment in the crypto exchange Coinbase, holding nearly 4,500 shares valued at approximately $1.2 million. Overall, Emory's moves could signal a gradual acceptance of Bitcoin among institutional investors.
