Bitdeer's New Bitcoin Mining Facility in Ohio Caught on Fire

A fire at Bitdeer’s Bitcoin mining facility in Massillon, Ohio, affected two of its 26 buildings on November 11, 2025. The fire was quickly extinguished by the local fire department, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Bitdeer announced that the affected buildings were still under construction, and no mining equipment had been installed. As a result, the company does not anticipate any impact on its operational hashrate. This incident occurred shortly after Bitdeer reported a significant net loss of $266.7 million for the third quarter, leading to a sharp decline in its stock price, which has fallen over 31% in the last week. The fire chief indicated that the blaze did not seem intentional, but further inquiries are underway. Bitdeer operates multiple mining sites in Ohio, as well as in Texas and Norway, as part of its expanding infrastructure in the cryptocurrency mining sector.
