BNB Chain Regains Control of X Account Following Phishing Breach

The BNB Chain team has regained full access to its X account after it was compromised, leading to the posting of ten phishing links. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao warned followers not to click on the links, which falsely promised rewards for participating in a fake program. Despite the alarm, the phishing attempt was contained, resulting in an estimated loss of $8,000, predominantly affecting one victim who lost $6,500. The breach raised concerns as it came amidst rising rates of crypto theft, with reported losses reaching $2.17 billion by June 2025, and trends suggesting potential thefts could surpass $4 billion by year-end. BNB Chain asserted it is investigating the breach, though the cause remains unclear. The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the crypto space.
