Chainlink Runtime Environment Comes to Chainlink
Chainlink has introduced the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE), a software platform aimed at enabling institutions to deploy smart contracts across multiple blockchains. This environment integrates compliance, privacy, and data integration tools, allowing developers to create smart contracts that adhere to legacy financial messaging standards and regulatory requirements. Major financial institutions, including JPMorgan and UBS, have begun utilizing CRE to harness the evolving tokenization market, estimated at $867 trillion. The platform also supports Chainlink's existing services, such as price feeds. Sergey Nazarov, co-founder of Chainlink, highlighted that CRE aims to streamline the development process of advanced institutional smart contracts, reducing the timeline from potentially years to weeks. Upcoming features include enhanced privacy tools, including confidential computing, slated for early 2026. CRE is designed to serve as a foundational infrastructure for institutions transitioning to blockchain technology.
