Citi Joins Visa in Backing Stablecoin Payments Company BVNK

Citi Ventures has made a strategic investment in stablecoin payments platform BVNK, joining Visa, which had already invested earlier this year. BVNK, which processes over $20 billion in payments annually, counts major companies like Worldpay, Flywire, and dLocal as clients. The stablecoin sector has seen significant growth, aided by the establishment of regulatory frameworks in key regions, which has encouraged investments from large financial institutions like Citi and Visa. Citi Ventures head Arvind Purushotham noted the rising interest in using stablecoins for settling on-chain and crypto asset transactions. The specific amount of Citi's investment has not been disclosed, but the partnership highlights a growing recognition of stablecoins in the traditional finance sector.
