Core Foundation Secures Injunction Against Maple Finance Over Bitcoin Yield Product

The Core Foundation has obtained an injunction against Maple Finance, claiming misuse of confidential information derived from their partnership to create a competing Bitcoin yield product. Earlier in 2025, both entities collaborated to develop a Bitcoin yield product named IstBTC. However, allegations arose that Maple utilized this partnership's insights to develop a rival product named syrupBTC, breaching a 24-month exclusivity agreement. Maple Finance denies these claims, asserting that core business operations remain unaffected and insisting that Core Foundation's actions contradict lender interests. According to Core Foundation, significant investments were made in technical development and marketing, which Maple allegedly misappropriated while continuing to access Core’s resources. The Cayman Islands court has found sufficient grounds for the injunction, which mandates Maple to halt the development of syrupBTC, signaling a serious legal dispute in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.
