Crypto Exchange Kraken Raises $800 Million at a $20 Billion Valuation

American cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has successfully raised $800 million in funding, which includes a $200 million investment from Citadel Securities. This funding round values the company at $20 billion. The firm aims to use the new capital for global expansion into regions such as Latin America, Asia Pacific, and EMEA, while also broadening its product offerings to include additional asset classes and advanced trading tools. Kraken Co-CEO Arjun Sethi expressed that this investment illustrates conviction in Kraken's mission to establish trustworthy financial infrastructure. Kraken has had minimal prior funding, having raised only $27 million before this round, and has reported revenues exceeding $1.5 billion in 2024, which it has surpassed in the first three quarters of 2025. The company is reportedly planning an IPO, although it has not made an official announcement yet.
