DoubleZero launches mainnet-beta and 2Z token
DoubleZero has launched its mainnet-beta on October 2, transitioning from testing to full-scale production, alongside the public introduction of its 2Z token. The network operates with over 70 high-performance fiber links across 25 global locations from providers such as Jump and Cumberland/DRW, designed for low-latency performance supporting distributed systems. The move follows a staged rollout, with prior tests validating performance and redundancy. The 2Z token, capped at a genesis supply of 10 billion, is employed for payments, staking, and rewarding contributions, with features to counter artificial traffic. Importantly, the SEC has classified the 2Z token as a utility, negating the need for registration as a security, signaling a shift in the regulatory approach towards utility-driven models in the blockchain space. This could influence future DePIN projects and their compliance strategies.
