Elon Musk on Messaging Platform X Chat's Features and Bitcoin-Like P2P Encryption

Elon Musk has announced plans for a new messaging feature called X Chat within the X platform, which will have a peer-to-peer (P2P) encryption system likened to Bitcoin's. The in-app chat is currently in beta for Premium users and supports text messaging, file sharing, and media attachments, with audio and video calls planned for future updates. Musk emphasized that X Chat will not include advertising hooks, thus limiting potential security risks associated with ad-targeting algorithms used by rival messaging apps. He stated that X has been developed with a comprehensive approach to messaging security, aiming to ensure end-to-end encryption and reduced data exposure by eliminating such advertising features. A standalone X Chat app is also set to launch in the coming months, aimed at providing a dual experience for users, whether integrated into the X app or as a separate application.
