Emory University Doubles Down on Bitcoin with $52M Grayscale Bet

Emory University has increased its holdings in the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust, more than doubling its stake to over 1 million shares, valued at approximately $52 million. The university, based in Georgia, reported this development in its 13F filing. This marks a significant increase from the roughly 500,000 shares it held at the end of the second quarter. Emory also entered a new position in BlackRock's iShares Gold Trust with nearly a $79 million stake and slightly increased its holdings in Coinbase, accumulating nearly 4,500 shares valued at about $1.2 million. This shift towards bitcoin and hard assets indicates a growing comfort level among institutional investors, particularly as endowments generally maintain conservative investment strategies. The trend reflects a broader acceptance of bitcoin held through regulated ETFs, signaling an evolving outlook on cryptocurrency among traditional financial sectors.
