Emory University Doubles Down on Bitcoin With $52M Grayscale BTC ETF Stake

Emory University has significantly increased its investment in Bitcoin, now holding over 1 million shares in the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust, valued at roughly $52 million as of September 30, 2025. This reflects a substantial increase from less than 500,000 shares at the end of the previous quarter. The university first invested in this Bitcoin trust in October 2024, with an initial value of over $15 million. Additionally, Emory has entered the gold market with a stake of nearly $79 million in BlackRock's iShares Gold Trust and maintained a small position in BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF valued at about $290,000. The move signals a growing interest in hard assets and may indicate a shift among institutional investors towards cryptocurrency, particularly through regulated vehicles like ETFs.
