Emory University Doubles Down on Bitcoin With $52M Grayscale BTC ETF Stake

Emory University has significantly increased its holdings in the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust, acquiring more than 1 million shares, which were valued at approximately $52 million as of September 30, 2025. This is a notable rise from just under 500,000 shares held at the end of the second quarter. The university had initially invested in this Bitcoin fund in October 2024, when their stake was valued at over $15 million. In addition to this Bitcoin investment, Emory has also placed nearly $79 million in BlackRock's iShares Gold Trust. The university remains committed to its Bitcoin investments, maintaining its smaller position in BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF, valued at about $290,000. Alongside these investments, Emory modestly increased its stake in Coinbase, now holding nearly 4,500 shares worth close to $1.2 million. This shift towards hard asset investments signals a growing comfort with Bitcoin among institutional investors, particularly through regulated investment vehicles like ETFs.
