Ethereum attracted more than 16K new devs over 9 months
Between January and September, more than 16,000 new developers joined the Ethereum ecosystem, making it the largest active developer base in the blockchain space with a total of 31,869 developers. Solana follows with over 11,500 developers, although there are claims that this figure may be understated. Despite leading in numbers, Ethereum experienced only a 5.8% growth in full-time developers over the past year. In contrast, Solana showed a 29.1% increase in the last year and a significant 61.7% growth over two years. Some concerns were raised regarding the accuracy of developer counts, particularly suggesting that Solana's count does not include about 7,800 developers. The head of developer relations for Solana called for developers to share GitHub repositories for better tracking. There were also doubts about the reliability of the data, as these figures might include temporary contributions from hackathons or AI-assisted coding, indicating potential inflation of the developer statistics in the crypto space.
