Google Releases Its Most Powerful AI Model, Gemini 3—Here's What You Need to Know

Google has launched Gemini 3 Pro, claiming it to be the most powerful AI model yet, capable of handling text, images, audio, and video concurrently with a contextual capacity of 1 million tokens. The model significantly outperforms its predecessor, Gemini 2.5 Pro, achieving higher scores in various reasoning benchmarks. For instance, it scored 37.5% on Humanity's Last Exam compared to 21.6% for the earlier model. Gemini 3 Pro utilizes a sparse mixture-of-experts architecture, which increases efficiency by activating only relevant subnetworks, thus reducing computational costs while maintaining high performance. Unlike previous dense models, this method allows for targeted problem-solving by engaging specialized neural networks for given tasks. Despite impressive technical capabilities, Gemini 3 faces challenges in commercial market share against competitors like OpenAI, which boasts higher user engagement. Google has also ensured ethical practices in its model training, filtering out harmful content for safety. Current access to Gemini 3 Pro is available for free through AI Studio without an app version yet.
