Harvard Triples Its Bitcoin Position as Emory Expands BTC ETF Holdings

Harvard University has significantly increased its Bitcoin exposure, holding 6.8 million shares of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust valued at approximately $443 million as of September 30. This marked a sharp rise from 1.9 million shares reported earlier. Despite the allocation being relatively small compared to Harvard's $56.9 billion endowment, it signals a strategic shift towards Bitcoin investments. Emory University also capitalized on Bitcoin by increasing its ETF holdings, reporting 1 million shares of the Bitcoin Mini Trust valued at $52 million, up from a lesser amount previously. This trend reflects growing acceptance among universities for Bitcoin as a valid asset following the introduction of regulated spot Bitcoin ETFs, even amidst recent market volatility and notable outflows from Bitcoin ETFs. Analysts suggest a longer-term strategic view is emerging among institutional investors despite immediate market fluctuations.
