Hawk Tuah Girl Added to Solana Meme Coin Lawsuit—After She Cooperated With Law Firm
Haliey “Hawk Tuah” Welch has been named in a class action lawsuit against the creators of the Hawk Tuah meme coin, which collapsed shortly after its launch last year. The lawsuit alleges that Welch was promised up to $325,000 to promote the token, with claims of misrepresenting its technical capabilities. Initially left out of the lawsuit, Welch had been cooperating with the law firm behind it. The firm, Burwick Law, has now amended the filing to include Welch, her manager Johnnie Forster, and her company, 16 Minutes LLC, citing allegations of fraud and misrepresentation regarding the token's features. After its launch, the Hawk Tuah token quickly surged to a market cap of $490 million before plummeting by 93%. The lawsuit suggests that the coin was deliberately designed to crash, benefiting insiders who sold large portions shortly after launch. Welch and her associates are accused of fostering trust among retail investors, making them critical to a marketing funnel that led to widespread loss among average token purchasers. This situation underscores the risks inherent in meme coin investments, particularly when influencers are involved.
