Investigation ties 100,000 BTC Hyperliquid whale to former BitForex CEO
An investigation has linked the Hyperliquid whale, which controls over 100,000 BTC, to Garrett Jin, the former CEO of BitForex. This connection emerged from an analysis conducted by crypto researcher Eye, who noted that the whale's main wallet, ereignis.eth, is associated with another address, garrettjin.eth, which leads directly to Jin's verified Twitter account. The study pointed out that the whale's transaction history aligns with Jin's business activities, including connections with exchanges like Huobi and funds traced back to BitForex. Under Jin's leadership, BitForex was accused of falsifying trading volumes and led to its closure amid fraud investigations. Following the collapse, Jin started multiple ventures, including XHash.com, which is now under scrutiny for potential misuse. Despite some skepticism regarding the evidence connecting Jin to the whale, the investigation raises questions about the integrity of his business enterprises.
