MoviePass Debuts Crypto-Based Predictions for Box Office Performances
MoviePass has launched a service called Mogul, allowing users to engage in prediction markets related to box-office performances. In a public beta launched on October 29, 2025, Mogul enables users to form teams based on movies, actors, and directors, all valued on their box office success and cultural impact. Instead of using real money, participants can earn a chance to share in a $100,000 prize pool, fostering interaction without financial stakes. Daily polls encourage user engagement on topics like potential remakes of animated films. According to CEO Stacy Spikes, the service aims to transform passive viewers into active participants in the entertainment landscape. While Mogul currently operates without real-money betting, the company hinted at future plans to integrate actual gaming. This innovative direction follows MoviePass's previous pivot toward cryptocurrency, including partnerships with organizations like the Sui Foundation, enabling subscription payments through stablecoins.
