Oklahoma Man Gets Five-Year Sentence for $9.4M Crypto Ponzi Scheme
Travis Ford, 36, has been sentenced to five years in prison for running a fraudulent crypto investment scheme that raised $9.4 million from approximately 2,800 investors. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in January. The scheme, operated through his company Wolf Capital, promised unrealistically high daily returns, promoting itself as a sophisticated trading platform capable of delivering gains of 1-2% daily, equating to around 547% annually. Despite *Wolf Capital* soliciting investments from January to August 2023, Ford admitted that such returns were not viable and acknowledged that much of the raised funds were lost through his trading activities. He was also ordered to forfeit over $1 million and pay over $170,000 in restitution. The prosecution highlighted that familar online influences may have compounded Ford's decisions, complicating the case further. Ford expressed remorse and took responsibility for the losses incurred by his investors.
