Palantir Sues Ex-Engineers Over Plans to Launch 'Copycat' AI Startup
Palantir Technologies has filed a federal lawsuit against former senior engineers Radha Jain and Joanna Cohen for allegedly misappropriating trade secrets to launch a competing AI integration company named Percepta. The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, accuses the engineers of stealing sensitive documents, including healthcare diagrams and internal frameworks, shortly after resigning. Palantir claims that they failed to disclose their new roles and continued to access Palantir's proprietary documents post-resignation. The complaint emphasizes that these actions represent a significant breach of their contractual obligations, given they were compensated millions under non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. Percepta, backed by venture firm General Catalyst, emerged as a direct competitor, employing many former Palantir staff and echoing Palantir's business model. Palantir seeks reparations and an injunction to prevent further violations, asserting that these actions threaten to severely damage its market position and undermine over a decade’s worth of research and investment.
