S&P to Debut New Index Tracking Crypto Assets and Public Companies

S&P Dow Jones Indices is launching a new index called the S&P Digital Markets 50 Index, which will track 15 cryptocurrencies and 35 companies involved in the digital asset space, including infrastructure providers and blockchain applications. This new index marks the growing recognition of cryptocurrencies and the digital asset industry as a significant part of global markets. According to Cameron Drinkwater, Chief Product & Operations Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices, the index will provide market participants with consistent tools to evaluate and gain exposure to these emerging assets. Dinari, a firm specializing in tokenized U.S. securities, is collaborating with S&P to create a token that tracks the index, thereby allowing both equities and digital assets to be accessed in a transparent manner. This launch comes amid a surge in crypto markets, with Bitcoin recently hitting a new all-time high, highlighting the renewed interest and investment in the crypto space.
