Survey of AI Founders Predicts Perplexity is the AI Giant Most Likely to Fail
A recent survey conducted at the Cerebral Valley Summit revealed that more than 300 AI founders and investors voted Perplexity as the startup most likely to fail, with OpenAI coming in second. This shift in sentiment highlights growing skepticism toward Perplexity, amid reports of legal troubles and unethical practices such as web scraping. The company's valuation skyrocketed from $14 billion to nearly $50 billion, prompting analysts to draw comparisons to the dot-com bubble. In contrast, Anthropic is gaining investor preference, having significantly increased its revenue and market share, outpacing OpenAI. Financial projections indicate that OpenAI may face substantial losses, whereas Anthropic aims to break even by 2028. Other startups identified in the failure poll include Cursor, Figure, and Harvey. Despite the concerns surrounding these companies, Nvidia is predicted to reach a $6 trillion market cap by the end of 2026, highlighting the ongoing opportunities in the AI sector.
