T. Rowe Price Files for Mixed Crypto ETF With Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana Exposure
T. Rowe Price has officially filed for a mixed digital asset exchange-traded fund (ETF) that aims to include a range of cryptocurrencies, with a focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum. This marks the firm's first venture into the crypto ETF space. The asset manager, which oversees approximately $1.77 trillion in assets, indicated that the proposed T. Rowe Price Active Crypto ETF will contain between five and fifteen cryptocurrencies and aims to outperform the FTSE Crypto U.S. Listed Index. Notably, the two largest cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Ethereum, are expected to have the largest allocations within the fund. This filing aligns with a broader trend of traditional finance companies developing digital asset products in response to growing investor interest in cryptocurrencies. As of now, the SEC is considering over 90 applications for crypto-focused ETFs, showcasing a rapidly evolving financial landscape as firms react to the successful launches of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in earlier quarters of 2024.
