Tether Reports $10 Billion Profit in 2025 So Far—Here's How That Compares to the Big Banks
Tether has reported a profit of $10 billion for the first three quarters of 2025, surpassing Bank of America, which had a profit of $8.9 billion during the same period. This significant income primarily derives from Tether's investments in U.S. Treasury securities, valued at about $135 billion. The profits position Tether among major financial institutions like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, which have posted net annual incomes of $12.4 billion and $12.56 billion, respectively. Tether is also likely to exceed last year's profit of $13 billion, but it still lags behind JPMorgan, which generated around $44 billion this year. Tether, headquartered in El Salvador, plans to launch a U.S.-compliant stablecoin called USAT by the end of the year. The company has issued over $17 billion worth of its USDT token in Q3 alone, increasing its circulating supply to over $184 billion. CEO Paolo Ardoino has highlighted the success of USDT in achieving financial inclusion globally, with over 500 million users.
