Thailand Will Extend Its ETF Offering Beyond Bitcoin, Says Regulator

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced plans to expand its exchange-traded fund (ETF) offerings beyond bitcoin, aiming to attract young investors interested in including cryptocurrency in their portfolios for diversification. SEC secretary-general Pornanong Budsaratragoon stated that local mutual funds and institutions will be allowed to issue these funds under specified rules. The SEC is looking to broaden the types of cryptocurrencies included, potentially offering a basket of various crypto assets in ETFs. This initiative is part of Thailand's ongoing efforts to develop its digital asset market, which also includes the introduction of tokenized government bonds. The move reflects a growing interest in cryptocurrency investments among younger generations in Thailand.
