The Protocol: ETH’s Fusaka Upgrade Goes Live on Hoodi, Mainnet Next
Ethereum’s Fusaka upgrade has successfully completed its final test on the Hoodi testnet, setting the stage for its upcoming launch on the Ethereum mainnet. This upgrade follows the previous Pectra upgrade and is designed to enhance the scalability and cost-efficiency of the Ethereum network. Key features include PeerDAS, which facilitates handling of full blobs to ease bandwidth usage and lower costs for validators and layer-2 networks. The successful test on Hoodi, a critical step in the upgrade process, comes after two other testnets have already undergone successful simulations of Fusaka. The anticipated mainnet deployment is tentatively scheduled for December 3, 2025. Alongside this, other industry developments include BOB's unveiling of a Bitcoin Vault Liquidation Engine designed to improve stability in BTC-backed lending, Ledger's introduction of a new wallet under a broader product overhaul, and Google’s significant advancements in quantum computing that may impact cryptocurrency security in the future.
