Tornado Cash Case: DOJ Had Enough Evidence to Convict Roman Storm, Prosecutors Say
Prosecutors from the Southern District of New York asserted that they possess sufficient evidence to convict Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, challenging his recent motion for acquittal following his conviction on a conspiracy charge. The prosecution's filing highlighted that Storm was a co-founder of Tornado Cash and intentionally designed features that facilitated cybercrime. They maintained that the evidence presented during the four-week trial demonstrated Storm's significant control over the platform, noting they've made around 250 changes to the user interface (UI) that approximately 96 percent of users relied on during the charged period. Additionally, prosecutors argued there was ample evidence to uphold charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and to violate sanctions law. Storm's defense attorneys are expected to respond to these claims shortly.
