Trump Wants U.S. as ‘the Bitcoin Superpower’
During a speech at the America Business Forum in Miami, President Donald Trump expressed his ambition for the United States to become the leading nation in the cryptocurrency sector, referring to it as 'the Bitcoin superpower.' He highlighted efforts by his administration to end what he termed the federal government’s 'war on crypto,' framing this as essential for U.S. economic stability and competitiveness, especially against China. He stated that digital assets could alleviate pressure on the U.S. dollar and emphasized the importance of adopting cryptocurrency properly to avoid falling behind other nations. Trump contrasted his approach with that of the Biden administration, which he criticized for being hostile towards cryptocurrencies. While he did not present new proposals or timelines, he reaffirmed the significance of establishing a strong presence in the crypto markets, particularly in light of the ongoing global competition for technological leadership. He pointed out his previous initiatives, including a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, but no new purchases of bitcoin from the government were disclosed in his remarks.
