UBS and Chainlink Complete First Onchain Tokenized Fund Redemption

On November 4, 2025, UBS marked a significant milestone in the $100 trillion fund industry by executing the first onchain redemption of a tokenized fund using Chainlink's Digital Transfer Agent (DTA). The transaction involved the UBS USD Money Market Investment Fund Token (uMINT), which operates on the Ethereum blockchain and was distributed onchain by DigiFT. UBS aims to enhance operational efficiency and explore new possibilities for product composability through its Tokenize platform, designed to automate crucial functions such as order-taking, execution, and settlement across both digital and traditional systems. This achievement follows a pilot project where Chainlink successfully connected existing bank systems to blockchains via Swift, using its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol. Mike Dargan, UBS's group chief operating and technology officer, emphasized that this innovation illustrates how smart contract technology can transform fund operations and the investor experience.
