USD.AI Bridges DeFi and AI by Turning Stablecoins Into Loans for Nvidia GPUs

USD.AI is a new stablecoin protocol designed to channel idle crypto liquidity into loans for AI data centers operating NVIDIA GPUs, which are vital for training and running artificial intelligence models. With approximately $345 million in circulation, this protocol tokenizes GPUs as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) backed by short-term credit, while generating revenue from compute time sold to AI developers. The protocol consists of three main components: CALIBER, for creating a legal link between physical hardware and its on-chain representation; the FiLo Curator, responsible for managing GPU loans; and queue extractable value (QEV), which organizes liquidity and redemption requests. Staking sUSDai currently yields between 13% and 17%, derived from repayments by GPU operators. While USD.AI seeks to serve as a bridge between decentralized finance and real-world infrastructure, its success is contingent on the sustainability of GPU leasing economics in the AI market.
