XRP Creator's RLUSD Hits $1B Milestone

Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin has soared past $1 billion in market capitalization just under a year after its launch in December 2024, now ranking as the 10th largest U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. The token's growth is attributed to increasing institutional demand and an expanding payments infrastructure facilitated by Ripple. Currently, RLUSD is distributed with $819 million on Ethereum and $203 million on the XRP Ledger. Ripple, processing nearly $100 billion in payment volume, has leveraged its global network to quicken RLUSD's adoption, attracting both institutional clients and retail users. Ripple President Monica Long noted a 100% increase in their customer base and highlighted the recent acquisitions of four firms to boost their offerings in digital assets. Long also stated that RLUSD is the primary stablecoin for payment flows within Ripple's growing ecosystem. Although RLUSD's market cap is modest compared to Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC, its rapid ascent indicates strong early interest and confidence in the token's potential within the stablecoin sector.
