YouTube Says New Policy Doesn't Ban All Crypto Content, Despite Uproar From Creators

YouTube has announced a new gambling policy that extends its ban on promoting certain gambling sites to include those offering video game skins, cosmetics, or NFTs. This decision led to concerns within the crypto gaming community that it may imply a ban on general crypto content. However, YouTube has clarified that the ban specifically targets gambling sites and will not affect legitimate crypto gaming experiences or discussions regarding items with real-world monetary value, such as NFTs. The policy change will take effect on November 17. Creators have expressed concern about the impact on crypto-related content, particularly as the gaming industry often resembles gambling due to comparable experiences. Despite these worries, YouTube reassured that video game skins and cosmetics earned in games will remain unaffected. The move aims to respond to the rise of casino sites sponsoring creators, which has raised regulations regarding such content. Casino sites certified by Google will still be allowed under certain conditions.
