YouTube Says New Policy Doesn't Ban All Crypto Content, Despite Uproar From Creators
YouTube has expanded its ban on promoting certain gambling sites to include those offering video game skins, cosmetics, or NFTs as part of their services. This has raised concerns within the crypto gaming community, as many feared it would lead to a blanket ban on crypto content. However, YouTube clarified that the policy is specifically targeting gambling sites and will not affect general discussions about crypto gaming or the trade of NFTs. Content that showcases video game skins or cosmetics will remain unaffected, allowing creators to continue discussing and promoting legitimate gaming experiences. The change, which takes effect on November 17, stems from the rise of casino sites sponsoring content creators, often incentivizing participation with crypto tokens and NFTs. YouTube's representative stated that while gambling-related content is restricted, certified casino sites will not be impacted by this policy. The announcement comes at a time when the lines between gaming and gambling are becoming increasingly blurred in the crypto space.
