Zeus launches BitcoinKit to plug BTC directly into Solana DeFi
Zeus Network has introduced BitcoinKit, a suite of developer tools aimed at integrating Bitcoin into Solana's DeFi ecosystem. This launch occurred during the project's Epoch 10 update, furthering efforts to enhance Bitcoin liquidity on Solana without the need for custodians or wrapped tokens. BitcoinKit enables users to lock Bitcoin on its original network and receive zBTC on Solana, allowing for the use of Bitcoin in DeFi applications while securing the asset on the Bitcoin network. This development follows previous projects by Zeus, including APOLLO for minting zBTC and btcSOL, which allows for Bitcoin yield conversion from SOL. The toolkit provided includes software libraries, command-line tools, and application interfaces designed for decentralized exchanges and cross-chain protocols. Zeus utilizes a cross-chain model that employs nodes and verification mechanisms that will undergo real-world testing, highlighting the growing intersection of Bitcoin and Solana within the decentralized finance space.
